    Hoarding

      

    Welcome to the Hoarding eLearning Module.  

    Those users who have an ERYC network account should access this eLearning module via the ERYC Course Finder application.

    This eLearning is an introductory session and a prerequisite for the face-to-face hoarding training.

    This course aims to provide a good foundation and awareness of the mental health diagnosis of ‘hoarding’. The course will provide learners with a basic understanding and knowledge of what hoarding is and its impact on individuals. It will help learners differentiate between hoarding and self-neglect and the various approaches available to ensure that our response is appropriate for the person and thus "person centred".

    Hoarding disorder is a mental health condition characterised by an individual saving items that appear to have little or no worth to others. It is a disorder that is deeply misunderstood by many.

    Hoarding can have a significant impact on an individual. It may cause stress and anxiety which can lead to emotional distress, conflict, isolation, strained relationships and unsafe living conditions.

    This training will help learners understand the disorder and dispel many myths that surround it. It provides a good foundation and clear definition of the mental health diagnosis of ‘hoarding’. It will equip learners with basic knowledge and understanding of hoarding and it's impact on an individual and their loved ones.
